When will I start speaking?
Beginners learning English from scratch often ask their teachers, "When will I start speaking?"
However, there is no clear-cut answer to this question. Instead, the real question should be, "What will I learn to say in each lesson?" The answer is quite simple: You start learning to speak in every lesson.
Of course, everyone wants to be able to introduce themselves, and in the first few lessons, you can learn to say your name, age, and where you’re from. But after that, the sentence structures you wish to form may be topics covered in entirely different lessons weeks later. For example, you might learn to say "I like playing sports" in Lesson 18, while "I am playing sports right now" might come in Lesson 38.
In other words, speaking is a step-by-step process. In each lesson, words, structures, and phrases accumulate, and after a while, you start forming sentences. So, the most accurate answer to the question "When will I learn to speak?" is:
A little more in every lesson.
